Job overview

We’re looking for a detail-oriented editor and designer to help run a social media content system for an award winning author and teacher who helps people use writing to understand themselves and their lives more deeply. His work has students around the world, and social media is how we’ll bring it to many more people.

You’ll turn recorded videos into polished vertical reels, create graphics and carousels in Canva from our templates, and schedule posts on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube Shorts.

This is part-time, ongoing work. It starts at about 5 hours a week, and could grow to 10–20 hours a week as we post more. The schedule is flexible: you work on your own time and meet agreed deadlines. The start date is mid to late November.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Video editing (vertical 9:16)

  • Trim videos and cut pauses, filler words and mistakes
  • Clean up audio so the voice is clear and steady
  • Add captions and proofread them carefully (names and terms often get transcribed wrong)
  • Add on-screen headlines and simple text graphics
  • Add B-roll or music when a video needs it
  • Create cover images for reels and Shorts

Canva design

  • Create quote posts, carousels and simple graphics from our locked templates
  • Use Canva Bulk Create to turn a spreadsheet of text into finished posts
  • Find suitable public-domain paintings and nature images for backgrounds
  • Check every graphic for readability, spacing and typos

Posting and organization

  • Schedule approved posts in Meta Business Suite (Facebook and Instagram)
  • Upload vertical videos to YouTube Shorts
  • Keep shared folders organized and update post status in our tracking sheet
  • Possibly reply to comments using a bank of approved replies

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required

  • Experience editing short vertical videos (CapCut, Premiere Pro or similar)
  • Strong Canva skills, including carousels
  • Very good written English. You’ll be proofreading captions and text
  • Strong attention to detail. You catch small errors before anything goes out
  • Comfortable following a written step-by-step process
  • Reliable communication and meeting deadlines

Nice to have

  • Experience with Canva Bulk Create
  • Experience with Meta Business Suite
  • Uses AI tools in their work (auto-captions, Canva AI, ChatGPT, Claude)
  • Interest in writing, books, personal growth
  • Ideas for new formats and ways to improve the process

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Videos and graphics are clean, consistent and error-free, and need few revisions
  • Posts are produced and scheduled on time, every time
  • You follow the process closely and flag problems early
  • Over time, you suggest improvements that make the content better or the work faster

PAY

$7–10 per hour, depending on experience.

HOW TO APPLY

Start your application with the word WRITE so we know you read this post. Then include:

  • A few sentences about yourself, your experience and why this role interests you
  • Links to 2–3 short vertical videos you edited
  • Links to 1–2 Canva carousels or social graphics you made
  • The editing software and AI tools you use, if any
  • How many hours a week you’re available

Shortlisted candidates will do a small paid test: editing one short video and creating one carousel from a template.
