Manga / Anime Story Writer for Long-Term Black-Inspired Shonen Project

About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a talented writer to help shape an original anime/manga-inspired story with the potential to grow into a long-term creative project.

The foundation is already being built, including characters, world concepts, themes, visuals, and reference materials. We need someone who can take those ideas further, strengthen the storytelling, and help create a compelling world with memorable characters and meaningful long-term development.

The project draws inspiration from the energy of shonen storytelling—adventure, humor, competition, emotional growth, rivalries, and major story moments—while maintaining an original identity centered around Black and African-inspired characters, culture, and perspectives.

Your Role:
- Turn existing concepts and notes into stronger storylines and worldbuilding.
- Develop character histories, motivations, relationships, and development arcs.
- Create plot ideas, conflicts, lore, and multi-stage story arcs.
- Help improve pacing and strengthen emotional and dramatic moments.
- Develop rivalries, themes, twists, and future story payoffs.
- Organize scattered creative materials into a clear and usable framework.
- Review existing material and offer honest, constructive feedback.
- Contribute new ideas that complement the project's established vision.
- Assist with preparing content for possible webcomic or manga platforms.
- Be willing to explore AI-assisted creative and artwork workflows when needed.

Ideal Candidate
- Genuinely passionate about anime, manga, otaku culture, and storytelling.
- Understands shonen-style character development and long-form worldbuilding.
- Appreciates Black culture and African-inspired storytelling and themes.
- Has strong imagination and the ability to turn ideas into engaging written content.
- Organized and capable of managing creative notes and story information.
- Can collaborate without taking the project away from its existing direction.
- Open to a long-term creative partnership.
- Respects confidentiality when working with unreleased concepts and materials.
- Reliable, respectful, receptive to feedback, and easy to collaborate with.
