Full-Time Tekla Modeler / Steel Detailer

Role Overview
Our client is looking for an experienced Tekla Modeler / Steel Detailer to support their steel estimating and modeling workflow.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide estimodeling support for projects the client is actively pursuing, helping the estimating team turn project drawings and information into accurate Tekla models that can be used as part of the estimating process.
The ideal candidate has strong, hands-on experience using Tekla Structures and a solid background in steel detailing or modeling. This person should be able to interpret technical drawings and translate project information into accurate and reliable Tekla models.
Experience with structural and miscellaneous steel is highly valuable, particularly for candidates who understand how modeling supports estimating, fabrication, and downstream project processes.
Key Responsibilities
Create accurate 3D steel models using Tekla Structures to support estimating for projects the client is pursuing.
Review and interpret structural, architectural, construction, and fabrication drawings.
Translate drawings, specifications, and project requirements into accurate Tekla models.
Provide estimodeling support to help the estimating team develop project estimates and evaluate opportunities.
Model structural and miscellaneous steel components accurately based on project requirements.
Ensure model information is complete and reliable for use in the client's estimating workflow.
Perform model checks to identify clashes, inconsistencies, missing information, or potential issues.
Identify discrepancies or questions in project drawings and communicate them proactively.
Incorporate revisions and updated project information into models as needed.
Maintain organized project files and proper revision control.
Coordinate with estimators and other members of the client's team to ensure models provide the information needed for estimating and review.
Complete modeling assignments accurately and within required estimating deadlines.
Qualifications
Strong hands-on professional experience with Tekla Structures.
Experience in steel detailing and/or structural steel modeling.
Ability to independently build accurate Tekla models from project drawings.
Strong ability to read and interpret structural, architectural, construction, and fabrication drawings.
Good understanding of structural steel and fabrication processes.
Strong 3D visualization and spatial reasoning skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to identify discrepancies, missing information, and potential modeling issues.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a remote team.
Available for a dedicated full-time position.
Preferred Experience
Miscellaneous steel detailing or modeling experience.
Structural steel detailing experience.
Steel fabrication experience.
Experience creating shop, fabrication, or erection drawings from Tekla.
Connection detailing experience.
Experience supporting U.S.-based steel fabricators or projects.
Familiarity with U.S. steel construction practices and standards.
Previous estimating or quantity takeoff experience is a plus.
What Success Looks Like
You can receive a set of project drawings, understand what needs to be modeled, and independently build an accurate Tekla model that supports the client's estimating process for projects they are pursuing. Your models provide reliable information for the estimating team to review and validate, while you proactively identify discrepancies or missing information that could affect the estimate.
The goal is to help make the estimating process more efficient by providing accurate front-end modeling that the client's experienced estimators can use to evaluate and price opportunities.
