Job Description

Home Tech Restoration is seeking a highly experienced Residential Xactimate Estimator specializing in insurance restoration claims, including water damage, flood mitigation, fire and smoke damage, storm damage, roofing, and complete residential reconstruction.

We are looking for someone who can independently prepare detailed, accurate Xactimate estimates from initial damage assessment through complete property restoration.

Professional Xactimate experience is mandatory. This is not an entry-level position.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Water Damage & Flood Mitigation Estimating

• Prepare detailed Xactimate estimates for residential water damage and flooding.
• Estimate emergency water extraction, demolition, drying, cleaning, and restoration.
• Calculate air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, containment, and other drying equipment.
• Understand Category 1, 2, and 3 water damage and appropriate mitigation procedures.
• Prepare estimates for sewage backups, basement floods, plumbing leaks, and storm-related water damage.
• Review moisture documentation, drying logs, photographs, and technician reports.
• Estimate complete repairs and reconstruction following mitigation.

2. Fire & Smoke Damage Estimating

• Prepare complete residential fire and smoke restoration estimates.
• Estimate demolition, debris removal, structural cleaning, soot removal, and odor control.
• Include HEPA cleaning, air filtration, contents handling, and other applicable restoration procedures.
• Estimate structural repairs, framing, drywall, insulation, flooring, painting, and finishing.
• Prepare detailed reconstruction estimates for partially or severely damaged homes.

3. Residential Roofing & Storm Damage

• Prepare Xactimate estimates for asphalt shingle, metal, and specialty roofing systems.
• Estimate roof replacements, repairs, underlayment, flashing, ventilation, gutters, and accessories.
• Review hail, wind, and storm-related damage documentation.
• Estimate siding, windows, doors, fascia, soffits, and exterior restoration.
• Identify missing line items in insurance adjuster estimates.
• Prepare supplements supported by measurements, photographs, applicable codes, and manufacturer installation requirements.

4. Complete Residential Reconstruction

• Prepare Xactimate estimates for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and whole-house restoration.
• Estimate framing, drywall, painting, flooring, cabinetry, countertops, trim, insulation, and related work.
• Review project photographs, sketches, Matterport scans, and measurements.
• Prepare complete repair scopes from demolition through final finishes.

5. Insurance Supplements & Estimate Review

• Review insurance carrier estimates for missing scope and discrepancies.
• Prepare detailed supplements with supporting documentation.
• Compare carrier estimates against actual required repair methods.
• Communicate professionally with insurance adjusters and project managers.
• Prepare revised estimates and supporting documentation for supplemental claims.
• Maintain organized records of estimate revisions and approvals.

6. Project Documentation & Dropbox

• Organize estimates, photographs, measurements, sketches, invoices, and supporting documents.
• Maintain individual project folders in Dropbox.
• Coordinate with production managers, mitigation technicians, and field inspectors.
• Track estimates submitted, supplements pending, and approved scopes.
• Maintain a daily estimating production report.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional Xactimate estimating experience preferred.
• Proven experience estimating residential water mitigation, fire damage, roofing, and reconstruction.
• Strong understanding of insurance restoration procedures.
• Ability to independently create sketches, calculate quantities, and prepare estimates.
• Experience with Xactimate line-item pricing and price lists.
• Knowledge of IICRC water damage restoration standards preferred.
• Experience preparing insurance supplements.
• Familiarity with roofing installation requirements and residential construction methods.
• Strong written English and attention to detail.
• Ability to work remotely and complete estimates accurately within deadlines.

Daily Responsibilities & Performance Expectations

• Prepare new residential Xactimate estimates.
• Review and revise existing estimates.
• Identify missing scope in insurance carrier estimates.
• Prepare supplemental estimates and supporting documentation.
• Communicate with field technicians and project managers regarding missing measurements and photographs.
• Upload completed estimates and documentation into Dropbox.
• Submit a daily report identifying completed estimates, pending supplements, and outstanding information.

3. Examples of water mitigation and reconstruction estimates.
4. Examples of fire damage restoration estimates.
5. Experience preparing insurance supplements.
6. Average number of estimates completed per week.
7. Desired hourly rate or monthly salary.

All examples must have confidential homeowner and claim information removed.

Candidates must complete a practical Xactimate estimating test before hiring.

We are looking for an experienced estimator who understands the entire residential restoration process—from emergency water extraction and fire damage cleanup to roofing replacement and full interior reconstruction.

The successful candidate must be capable of preparing comprehensive, accurate, and properly documented estimates with minimal supervision.
